Last night I decided to head out and chase a couple of storms that were forming over the Gulf of Mexico. I ended up at Venice Pier and took this great photo as the lightning hit the water. I had to wait undercover for three separate rain storms to pass before I was able to get this shot.
I like the way the clouds hang mid frame with the lightning exploding from the top of the clouds and that stars can be seen above the thunderheads. I find the more I work at night, the more I like night or low light shooting, despite all of the mosquitoes that love to bite me.
My next project I’m working toward is light sculpting using natural settings and a few props. I’ve been waiting a couple of weeks to get this project started, as it has rained every evening I’ve had available. Now the weather seems to be getting back into the usual Florida rain pattern, pour in the late afternoon, then clear to a beautiful night.
I can’ t wait.
